Floating Floor

Timber flooring has again gained popularity due to new methods of construction and installation making it very affordable. Real hardwood flooring is still out of the realms of affordability for most homeowners, but a cheaper solution is floating floor, whether that be timber-tops or laminate.

Timber-tops

This type of flooring is fully engineered timber flooring which is constructed in layers to ensure greater stability in order to protect against bowing, warping and other potential problems that can be associated with solid timber flooring.

Timber-tops consist of a bottom layer and a hardwood core and with approximately 4mm of a hardwood top layer.  Most brands that we have available are coated at least six layers of various sealing solutions, depented on the brand of product. This factory finished process ensures an extremely high quality and uniform finish to each piece of flooring.

This product can be sanded up to four times, depending on the amount of damage to be repaired each time the floor is sanded.

As the finished product comes pre-fabricated, it is a one step process to lay, as opposed to solid hardwood flooring, which can be a very time consuming, messy and inconvient process. Timber-tops can be installed by anyone who is zealous and wants to save some money. We do however, also provide a laying service to speed up this process.

 Laminate Flooring

Laminate flooring is the cheapest of the floating floor options. There are litteraly hundreds of laminate flooring brands on the market in Australia today, ranging from very cheap (and nasty) through to heavy commercial quality. It should be noted that our store only deals with products that are middle of the range quality or better including heavy commercial products. This ensures that we do not disapoint our clients with inferior products which will waste their money.

This type of flooring is very similar to kitchen benchtops. It has a range of styles including tile patterns, but more commonly timber look planks. You may be suprised just how realistic some of these products look on your floor.

It comprises of a high density, moisture treated fibre board with a laminate pattern layer and finally a protectant wear layer.

As all of the boards that we supply click together, they are easy to install and maintain yourself as there is no glue involved in the installation process. However profession laying is also available to all of our clients. Laminate flooring is a harder and tougher flooring surface than genuine timber flooring options, however, it cannot be sanded.

Solid Hardwood Flooring

There are many differing species of wood to choose from on display, from varying manufacturers, including samples that can be leant to you to ensure that you make the right selection.

Solid hardwood flooring can be layed over the top of either a concrete slab or over a timber floor that is in reasonable condition. All of our solid timbers are layed as a fully glued-down system. We have professional laying service available to you if this is required.

Solid hardwood is a premium product for those who want to invest in a long-term, high quality option for their flooring. It is made from entirely from high quality timber and for this reason is more expensive than other wood flooring options.

This type of flooring is seen as a long term option as it can be rejuvenated by sanding and re-coating as required. It is expected that this flooring will need to be sanded and coated roughly every 10 years, depending on the traffic incurred and the general care and maintenance taken to protect your floor.
